Bought this x2 oven dual fuel in 2000 – a great cooker! But recently the top gas oven spark ignition keeps clicking despite the gas being lit and all flames burning happily. After 5 mins it really gets annoying 😥 and I don’t know how to stop it – except unplugging the cooker. After 1h I’m going nuts.

Can anyone suggest what part has failed and where I can get the item?

Many thanks to all for some help…

Problem could suggest you have an earth fault which is causing this too happen reccomend you call in a corgi registered repairer try Repairs@ for a local expert.

    Re: Cannon Harmony Spark Ignition

Mmm – thanks for the advice. I’ve checked through the circuit from cooker terminal block to mains plug and no probs there.

I wondered if it was the flame detector on the blink, ie not recognizing the oven was alight and trying to ignite it. Is this a likelihood with this model of cooker –
    Model 10216G
    Serial 751 0099

The igniter works perfectly well when the top oven is turned on, also with the hob rings.

Sorry to be a pain! There isn’t a site-recommended engineer in this area…

    Re: Cannon Harmony Spark Ignition

As it is a gas appliance and you need to be corgi registered to work on this, to give more indepth advice on this fault would be unprofesional in the interest of saftey of yourself and neighbours.

However I will descibe how Ignition sytems work as follows, Gas contains moisture prior to being a flame, it does not when it is lit, the ignition system which operates at high voltage supplies this feed to the Electrode which earths out on the burner to create a spark as the gas is then lit there is no moisture for the spark to be created, this is why I said ‘could be an earth fault’

Please again think of saftey and get a corgi registered fitter in to repair this fault, I understand it will cost you money but this will be minimal to the cost of a possible prison sentence and big fine.

    Re: Cannon Harmony Spark Ignition

Thanks for explaining things – I agree with you that this seems a matter for the experts so I’ll track one down via the dreaded Yellow Pages.

To begin with, if it had merely been a case of replacing one part with another and didn’t involve a gas supply then I’d be perfectly OK to do this as electronics is a thing of mine.

But the risk of an explosion never really crops up when wiring up PCs etc – I’m really grateful for your time.

If you’re interested, I’ll let you know how it all worked out…

    Have a good w/end
