ParticipantHow universal are they? When they say they fit “most brands” of dishwasher and washing machine, are there any drain hoses that are sufficiently different in diametre for them not to fit?

The later Hotpoints are the exception mainly as they have the larger pump outlet.

Thanks Dave, I was thinking more of the extension connectors though that come with the extension kits, or can be bought seperately, where you can join two drain hoses together. Is it fair to say that although the fitting to the pump on a drain hose may be different, the plastic connectors will always fit and be water tight?

Ah, sorry.
Personally I would never join two waste hoses together unless I really had to 😉

I use 4 inch length of 22mm copper pipe , 2 jubilee clips and some debor.
I personally tend to engineer solutions rather than replace parts

Here’s one although you can’t see the conector properly as it’s to small

They are stepped down, tapered connectors

That’s the solution I have used also when required bit I guess a lot of the guys won’t have 22mm copper pipe on the van unless they do gas work, but it would be my preference over the “universal” types.
There’s still quite a few appliances that don’t have rubber ends on the waste hose as well.
Andy, that part is a total rip off IMO at that price from sparesRus 🙁

The Qualtex PLG19 is the perfect answer to joining 2 drain hoses 😉
