There is no E50 error code but this has come up before so it does get displayed but there’s no explanation for it 😕
Type E50 in to the search factility, there’s a bit about it but it seems to point toward a motor fault.

Yeah dave seen that, its just that at 1st E20 then E50 seems a bit strange anyone any service bumf ie reset/last fault etc

Any fault code ending in a 0 is the group fault and is just an indication of the area of the fault. ie. E50 is a fault with the motor circuit. You will then have to go into the diagnostic system and the machine will narrow the fault down to E51, E52, E53 etc. 🙂

Reading the service manual for this model it seems that a different fault code is displayed to the customer than the diagnostics system would display.
The user fault code is e10, e20, e40, e90.
when the diagnotics system is entered it gives the engineer a more precise fault code.I am guessing that the E20 is a user code and needs resetting to clear the last fault from memory. Because the E5_ codes all appear to be wiring/communication errors (components to what the Electronics is expecting). If not reset may then display E50 which technically is not a fault code!!

Some fault codes are displayed to the customer as they are things which they may be able to do something about.
E10..possibly not turned the taps on.
E20..Drain or filter blocked.
E40..Door not shut correctly.E90.. is displayed because it is a problem with the electronics and the engineer may not be able to get into the diagnostics.
All other codes are hidden from the customer so they do not attempt diy repairs. 😯
I might be wrong here but I think the E50 will only come up when it first detects the fault and if you switch the machine off you will lose it but the full error code will be stored in the memory. If you then try to start another programme it will only run for a few seconds and then cut off.
Every time you go to a zanussi it is worth going into the diagnostic system and check the last error code before you do anything else. It can save a lot of time, effort and wrong parts ordered.

I posted it here some weeks ago:

If that’s not correct, email me the PNC and I’ll grab it later for you and attacxh to a reply (it’ll be a huge file though 😯 )

e20 – drain problem
e50 – communication between boards/configurationApril 26, 2006 at 8:12 pm #173983farmboy
ParticipantRe: ZANUSSI1640W E50
The E50 code is a general code for the motor, you only get the full code by going into the diagnostic program (E51, E52 etc).
Sounds like its either the motor or the motor control (main pcb)
