During the night my dishwasher stopped towards the end of the main wash cycle 4. I was aware that it had been making the same sounds for over an hour. When I checked it appeared as if the pump was continually pumping out while the water was coming in. I turned it off until this morning, then I turned the programmer forward a few clicks until the pump stopped and the machine filled. The cycle then continued to the end of the programme. Can I assume the programmer is at fault and has anyone any idea of the cost and complication of fitting a replacement. We are about to move having sold our house with the white goods … aint that just Sod’s Law ? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

The fault you describe could be the programme controller. However, consider that there is a flood protection system attached to the appliance, this may be cross linked with the water level control system.

Difficult to be sure – try running the appliance a few times successively – if it stops at exactly the same point every time with exactly the same symptons, the timer is a reasonable bet.

Click the link below for a UKW engineer if you’re not sure how to proceed, power off for any investigations beyond observation.

I have run the dishwasher a few times now and it seems perfectly ok. Perhaps it was some querk or other although I am now wondering if perhaps I started the cycle beyond the start mark (I dont see too good these days) which may have caused it to run with no water or too little water. Anyway, sorry to have bothered you and thanks again for your prompt reply
