ParticipantI have an Indesit IDL500 dishwasher.
I’ve had two replacement power buttons from Indesit while under guarantee.
Now in the second year and out of manufacturer’s warranty the handle moulding has fractured behind the power button and around the program selector knob with no apparent cause. This I repaired from inside of the moulding.Several months later I have a dead detergent dispense door solenoid.
As a new product design engineer I know that products can suffer from problems that are often accidentally ‘designed in’ the power button for example is destined to break unless it is always pressed centrally only as pressing off centre applies horrendous forces on the switch location socket.
The handle moulding damage baffles me though I do have an impatient 19 year old son (he claims never to have batterd the power button 🙂
I’ll get to the point. Is it possible to bypass Indesit for spares and go to the component manufacturer? i.e. solenoid manufacturer for detergent door solenoid.

Straight answer? No, although you will find that replacement parts are very reasonably priced through spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk – our own spares operation.
Just to make your day, the handle will be supplied as part of the door latch mechanism.
Regretably, this machine is a classic example of cost engineering from the Indesit company. The appliance is not at all popular in the trade as a consequence. They eat heaters, computers, circulation pumps and plastic parts at an alarming rate.
For your next one, scare up an extra £100 for something decent. Sorry to sound rather negative……

As I thought 😥
I’ll check out spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk and take your advice on an upgrade, probably quite soon.
Thanks for your time.
