ParticipantPlease help.
I have a Zanussi IZ161 which appears to have a blocked jet system nozzle.
Noticed that the ‘jet’ had reduced to a trickle, now there is no flow although the machine pumps out without any problems.
Checked the pump filter and found some limescale deposits. Ran a maintenance wash but still appears to be blocked.
I have 2 questions,
1. As a short term measure will I damage the pump by running the machine as normal?
2. How do I gain access to the pump to clean the tube to the top of the drum?
Many thanks.May 2, 2006 at 3:48 pm #174668Goatboy

Indeed; it’s two seperate pumps 😉
The pump closest to the front of the machine, is the ‘wash’ pump. The pipe comming out of the top of it could be blocked, or the pump motor could have failed?
I’d recommend Repairs@, because it’s a swine of a job. 😕
It’s no determent to the machine if it’s not working. Most people don’t even notice when they fail. I go to those machines for other faults, then say…
“Do you know that your squirt pump aint working?”
Saying that, yours is a low water usage machine, so wash performance could be affected 😕
Power off first if your doing having a look yourself, please

The ‘wash’ pump could overheat quite badly if left as it is! It could be something caught in that pump or indeed the hose and nozzle blocked? Whatever, needs expert help as DIY fix is not easy (see link below for local engineer)

Thanks for your comments guys.
Managed to fix the problem last night after realising that there are 2 separate pumps.
Cleared the line by squeezing it for the entire length in order to break up the crud, then attached a bicycle pump to the nozzle end and blew the line clear into the drum, hey presto! It worked!May 3, 2006 at 9:49 am #174672Goatboy

Hmmm, there’s a new tool for my toolbox! 😆
It’s always nice to hear that it’s sorted
