ParticipantHi All
I was wondering if anyone could help with this problem. I bought an INDESIT IS70C 1 tumble dryer in feb 06 and it is so loud my neighbours from both sides have knocked and said they can hear it in their homes. After checking to see if itโs vibrating on anything and moving it off the wall they are still complaining and I have to agree the noise is driving me mad too. Iโve phoned comet and told them they’ve said itโs not a fault and if they send someone to look at it and they agree it’s not faulty I will have to pay ยฃ25. Has anyone else got/had the same problem with this make? I would be grateful for any advice/comments etch….many thanksMay 2, 2006 at 4:46 pm #174696iadom

If it still has the two plastic pulleys on either side supporting the drum at the front then it is faulty. A well documented problem that aflicts this machine and all its other incarnations. There is a conversion kit to return the machine to the old style Creda drum front bearing pads that have given virtually no problems whatsoever for over 20 years . The pulleys are thrown away. Just in case it does require this modification you can tell Comet that the part number required is a 1703273. ๐ Hotpoint started to spoil the original Creda design but it took The Indesit Company to produce this masterpiece. ๐ฅ

Thanks iadom
I will look into that and if I need them will order the parts and pay for them to be fitted anything to stop the noise. My wife has even put the washing on the line for the first time in about 15 years its that bad and thats saying something ๐May 2, 2006 at 5:24 pm #174698iadom

Don’t allow Comet to browbeat you, insist on your rights.

If it has those pulleys, it’s a horrible, constant, low rumble, and it will drive you and your neighbours nuts ๐
Merloni have been replacing those in their millions!

Hi,
This is probably a silly question but how do I find out if it has the plastic pulleys?
And, is it the bearing kit I have to replace them with?
Thanks

I would just phone Comet and insist that they come out and repair your dryer under guarantee, do not be put of by their scare tactics. If your neighbours can hear it then it is obviously faulty. If I was in your situation I would get them out at once, if they tried to charge me after they had called, I would tell them firmly but politely to “get s*****d”. It is only 2 months old after all.

Hi All
Just thought I’d thank you for your advice and let you know that the repairman came Monday and the condenser fan is broken and properly has been since before it left the factory. He said it wasn’t balanced correctly. It will take a further week for the part to come but at least its getting done. I will not be buying a cheap make in the future though.
Thanks again -
