My washer / dryer (model as above) appears to load with water with no problem, drain ok and the drum rotates fine – however, at the start of the wash cycle, it loads with water (about 1/3 full) then the start/pause light starts flashing. Pressing the button does nothing, and there is no error code. The only way to get around the problem at the moment is to “skip” to the rinse cycle – when the water is drained, and the machine carries on normally. Obviously – this means there has been no wash cycle.
Any idea what the problem is?
Only thing I can think of is a problem with the water heater, but there is nothing in the manual to help, and no associated error code.
    Cheers for your help

It could be a heater problem?

But that sounds more like brain problems?

Look very closely at the moulded 13amp plug and the socket it plugs into? On this make and model, they are prone to bad connection problems!

    Worth checking…. 😉

    Cheers.

There doesn’t APPEAR to be a problem, though I will keep an eye on the plug.
The fact that the error occurs at the same point regardless of the program selected makes me think the problem is internal.

Yes! The point where the heater comes on and draws the most current. If that wall plug is arcing as a result of not coping with the current….nudge! nudge! wink! wink!

Or the heater is faulty. Though I’d expect that to come up with a fault code.

Ps. I like the logic Martin  Genius as always! Please let us know how you get on Liv.

Zanussi told me to call out ServiceForce – should be called ServiceFarce!
Despite their claim to “Attend same day” if you call before 10am – I have got to wait 7 days!
Also – their website doesn’t work for any OX postcode, and the “Contact Us” disappears into a blackhole!

Will update you after Monday’s visit (£45+VAT+Parts for minor repair, £60+VAT+Parts for major repair)!

    Hi,
could possibly be an incrongruency between the two pressure switches (analogue and electronic) during the fill phase. Does the “end” light flash repeatedly or in a sequence? (i.e 4 flashes then a break etc), this sometimes indicates a fault code.

    Very reasonable pricing.

    Hi Paul.

The pause light just flashes continuously – like it would if you pressed the pause button yourself to interrupt the wash – but you cannot continue with the wash cycle, only skip to rinse.

I wonder how many major repairs are pretty minor tho?

    Well – it’s fixed 😀 (for now).

The guy who came out said it was the pressure switch that detects the water level (converts air pressure to electronic signals to the board). He didn’t have a spare one in the van, but blew the one that was already in, and off it went.

Hopefully, if it happens again, it’s something I can replace reasonably easily!

    🙄
