ParticipantHello all
Our Smartdrive 608 washer isn’t starting to fill – all the controls seem to be operating normally, but pressing Start doesn’t do anything.
Tried diagnostics (not too sure how to operate diags??). Hold Wash Temp on power on (2 beeps), press spin until Hold and Slow spin are lit –
None of the 8 LEDs are lit. Is this right?
Pressing spin button some more seems to show some diagnostic LEDs at various spin settings. Are these relevant? How do I report them?
Anyway, pressing Wash Temp down starts a cold fill as long as I hold it. Wash Temp up starts a (somewhat feeble) hot fill. Pressing Regular wash does a drain of the tub
Can anyone assist with diagnostics?
Thanks!!!!

To enter diagnostics on your phase 4 machine, proceed as follows:
1) Press and hold Wash Temp Down and then Power.
2) Wait for 2 beeps
3) Press Spin until you have Hold and Slow Spin lights lit.The wash light strip will now display the last fault as a binary code from right to left. If you can note down the sequence of on/off lights, we can work out if there is a fault present.
As a matter of good practice, you should check the condition and function of the lid and Out of Balance switches – both are prone to corrosion problems.

Hi Penguin,
Thanks for the assistance!
I enter diagnostics as per your instrucutions, but get no LED’s lit across the wash light strip: 00000000
I removed the cover panel (powered off) and checked all the connectors, and any obviously faulty components
Where do I find the lid and out of balance switches?

Don’t worry, a bit of poking and prodding and I found both switches.
The lid switch looked just like a sealed unit (magnetic or mercury switch?), thought it might be no good. Shorted it out at the connector end, and BINGO – everything works normally!
Any idea what the part number for the lid switch is? I’ll trying ringing F&P and see if they can sell me one.
Thanks for your help Penguin – very much appreciated. Have to say these forums are awesome, never thought I would be able to fix it without a multi-hundred dollar repair bill!!!!

Reed switch and harness is p/no 426257.
Can’t advise on prices due to being half a world away 😀

I think I may have the same problem with my GW603
Where do I find the lid and out of balance switches, and when I do, how do I short one out?? (Sorry but not a very technical person)

I can see a blue and black wire running from a 4pin plug in the controller unit to the front right hand side of the machine – I assume these wires are connecting to the sensor, probably at the front of the machine??
The 4 pin plug has 2 other wires that seem to run in under the controller – coloured yellow and black from memory?
How would I short out the black and blue wires?
Unit powers on but wont start if I just disconnect the 4 pin connector (ie. same problem as it has when 4 pin connector is connected)
