Guys – The offending machine in the subject has an intermittent (becoming more frequent) problem where at the end of the cycle, the machine doesn’t quite switch off. An amount of water is left in the bottom of the machine (not enough to get in contact with the heating element) and there is the sound normally associated with the drying cycle although, to all intents and purposes it looks like the cycle has finished (contents are clean and dry) and the heating element is definitely off. The programme selection switch appears to have made it round to the “Off” position. BUT it continues to hum slightly (as if on the drying cycle) until the door is opened and machine switched off

It doesn’t appear to be a blockage or pump problem as to completetly drain the water all I have to do is start one of the cycles and the initial drain gets rid of the water.

    Any thoughts?

It sounds like the pressure system may be blocked, have a read of this:

Yours is the blue tube version 🙂

Apart from that, it’s engineer time to be honest. Check the repairs@ link below. If you do decide to look further, power off please :zap:

Guys – Still trying to avoid an engineer coming at the moment. The intermittent problem is now full time. However the dishwasher works in all other respects so I am living with the problem at the moment.

One thing I have now noticed. It will not pump any water while it is still warm. i.e. Once it has cooled down I can drain the excess water in the bottom by starting another wash program, but when warm nothing happens, no matter which of the 3 wash programs I choose.

I don’t suppose this gives anyone any ideas as to what could be wrong?

sounds like the pump has failed.
