i have an old english electric model no 2625 and its died when you plug it in the compressor humms for three seconds then clicks off it dosent freeze and the fridge doesnt get cold its our only fridge freezer and all our foods at my mums so any help would be most greatful as very short of money at the moment had a good look around on the internet and only found that it could be the compressor relay could this be the case and could i get the parts and repair it myself ive took the cover off the compressor and cant see any relays help thanks

It could be relay, but rarely is.
I would imagine due to age that the compressor has seized. If thats the case it would be beyond ecenomical repair.Greg

is the relay in the box on the compressor where all the wires go any ideas on the price of the relay at all is it east to fit ill have to try it as cant afford to get an engineer out just hope and pray it isnt siezed

the compressor will have failed and not the relay,the clicking is a thermal overload that stops the appliance from over heating and starting where there is a fault,dependant on age and size of the appliance it may be BER but it will need a new compressor.
