Hi, I’m hoping someone can shed some light on a problem my elderly neighbour is experiencing. When the machine spins it makes a loud whirring/grinding noise which becomes deafening on fast spin. The drum spins freely but if you do it by hand it does feel gritty. Apparantly everything else works as it should. I can’t see any loose concrete or other bits amiss. I may be wrong but suspect it’s something to do with the bearings? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done lots of repairs on my own machine and am reasonably competant but if the diagnosis looks grim I’ll tell just to get a new machine
Re: Hotpoint Aquarius Noisy on Spin – Any help please!
If and only if the machine is under 5 years old and you have kept the purchase receipt to prove it, then ring Hotpoint directly. The machine carries a 5 yr parts warranty and all you pay is the labour £89.99 to get it sorted. 😉
It needs a whole new DRUM ASSEMBLY….very costly repair otherwise at around £180 or more 😥

If she cannot find her details, give us the serial number from the door hinge and we should be able to date it, we can tell month of manufacture and if it is under 5 years old she should be OK.
