    HELP!! DAMSEL IN DISTRESS!!!

    My washer/dryer Hoover Performa Eco 1200, (could be 6-8yrs old), started making ‘ticking noise’ as the drum revolved on dryer setting.
    I thought it may be piece of paper catching underneath (we have a mental 1yr old German Shepherd who likes to chase things around).
    When I turned light off & got down on my knees to look, it was flashing like mad underneath! So I turned it off.
    We tried it again yesterday on dryer setting, it wasn’t making the arc-ing noise, but after a while the motor sounded like it was labouring to push the drum round… it alternates clock/anti-clock/wise.
    As we turned it off, I fear it may have now died…

    What shall I do? – dump it and buy new washer/dryer?

    It’s been so long since I needed to buy one… which brand do you recommend?

    It almost certainly will require replacement MOTOR BRUSHES and well worth getting a local expert in to sort it for you 🙂

    Does the ticking sound happen when you turn the drum by hand?? It does sound like seg damage on the motor commutator to be honest. This would mean new motor Im afraid.

    Are Motor Brushes expensive?
    Is the machine worth fixing as it is 6-8 yrs old?

    The ticking sound was the electricity arc-ing/flashing underneath.

    Just to let you know…

    I found a Zanussi washer/dryer model WJD1667W for £379.99. They delivered next day, Sunday, for £12.95, and also took my dead Hoover away!

    The new one is a bit fancy, it lights up and bleeps when finished…the only thing is it bleeps the same as my George Foreman, so I’ll probably end up grilling my socks and washing my steaks!!! 😆

    Anyhoo….thanks for the advice! I know where to come when the cpu breaks down on my new one!! (please don’t die please don’t die please don’t die.)
