ParticipantUsed the oven on Tuesday – no problems. Went to switch it on last night – nothing happened. Hubby has checked the plug and fuse – both are fine. The oven is about 10 years old – does it sound repairable or do we just buy a new one? 😕
Thanks
Jackie

The safety thermal fuse has failed I expect.
Is the timer/clock still running ?

I am in Scotland. I read AKG342 from the inside label on the oven this morning. The code shows up in Google searches for spare parts but it’s probably an obsolete oven by now!

The timer/clock stopped working about a year ago. We didn’t bother getting that fixed as we didn’t really use the timer.
Is the safety thermal fuse a DIY type repair? If so, can you give me more details so my husband can try it out.
Thanks for replying.

Its quite possible judging by what you have said now said, that clock is at fault.
The neutral feed from clock to main oven has probably gone?Greg

Thanks for your reply, Greg. How would we check/fix the neutral feed to see if this is the problem?

With a test meter (with the power off please :zap:)
If you’re unsure, please check the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂
Parts are still available for this model also.

Thanks for your reply – I’ll ask hubby to check the neutral feed WITH THE POWER OFF!!!! I’ll post again once he has done this.
How cost effective would it be to repair if this is the problem?

If it were the timer then probably not to be honest, it’s over £100 but if the thermal fuse has failed then that would be about a quarter of the price 🙂

Even if the timer is not working, it still has to be set to manual (the hand symbol).

Penguin45 – you have saved us a fortune and stopped us looking like totally numpties (well apart from on this forum 😳 ) Just checked the oven, turned the timer to the hand symbol and the oven works!
Thanks everyone for your help!!
I’ll go and slink into a corner now! 😆
