ParticipantOur washer dryer has devolped a fault as if flashing the following flights
From the left.
Stain Removal, Easy Iron, 1000-500 and Power Lock
The first time this happened today, we pressed the on and off button which tripped out the power breaker.
When we turned the power back and and pressed the on and off button, the same lights start flashing and a knocking noise is heard.
Pressing none of the buttons stop this, or press on and off button.
The washer is out of warranty, we do know someone who used to mend our old one, but does anyone know what is wrong.
Thanks
Sarah

From left to right and excluding the power on/off lamp, which lights are flashing – ie 1+3+4 for instance ?

The computer has detected a fault with the dryer functions. This is usually the temperature sensor going faulty, but can be the dryer motor. The knocking noise is probaby the blower motor or it’s housing working loose – this might also explain the tripping breaker.
Power off if you’re going to pop the lid and take a peek.

Cheers Penguin
Would this cause it to go wrong when the washer was going and not the dryer.
Where in Sunny Yorkshire are you?

It should fault regardless of what programme is selected.
We cover North Leeds postcodes – best bet is to put your details into the repairs@ option and see whoi comes up. It’s the red toolbox.

Hiya
Our guy has just left, the heater motor and heater are all ok.
It seems that the pump is failing.
Where is the best place to get one from, any ideas?
Thanks
Sarah

Thanks for the tip Sarah as I’ve never heard of Partsmaster ’til you mentioned them 😉
I’ve added them to my list of ‘suppliers to be avoided’ due to their pricing. 🙄
(e.g. £23 for a Hotpoint Drain Hose – £8 for a Y Piece 👿 )

Hi again
Well the new pump is on and there are no blockages anywhere.
We put it on a quick washer and it ran for about 45 mins then we got flashing lights again.
No. 2 and 4 from the left and the red one flashing too.
This is driving me mad now.
Any further ideas would be appreciated.

Oh dear – this code suggests a problem with the pressure switch controlling the water level. Pretty basic stuff if you know what you’re doing; I have to say that I was surprised that your repairer ordered the pump through a Retail supplier – it is a very expensive way of buying parts, especially considering that the Askoll pump motor unit is a standard component in any repairers armoury these days – I buy them 25 at a time!
So……. Water comes into the machine, fills the drum – in the meantime, air is displaced into a side tube by the rising water and operates a diaphragm switch, to instruct the computer about water levels. The chamber can become choked with crud and not activate the switch at the appropriate time; the skinny connecting hose can chafe against the drum and become pin-holed allowing the air to escape or the switch itself can become faulty.
Not sure whether to suggest you recall your repairer or not – obviously you have paid him for his work to date, but the problem has been not been solved. If you call him back, perhaps show him this thread?
Good luck,
