We had a power cut in our village today. After it came back on my parents-in-law found that their Hinari Lifestyle microwave (I’ll get the model number tomorrow/later today as I don’t want to ring them up at this time of morning) didn’t come back on. However when they open the door then the plate inside starts revolving but without the noise that normally accompanies cooking. The digital display remains blank.

I thought that maybe it was caught between electricity phases (or some other technical explanation) when the power went off but I wonder if somebody can shed some light on it.

    Thanks

Circuit Board failure within the microwave I’m afraid. A costly repair and may be regarded as uneconomical to proceed 🙁

Thanks for that, I’ll let them know before they try to get it fixed. Last time they had a problem with a video recorder and they paid £120 to get it repaired instead of binning it.

It might be worth investing in a surge protector for the TV/Video if mains spikes are a problem. I dont know if they can handle the power of a microwave though.
