ParticipantHow do you characters fit an elasticated drive belt to a Hotpoint WMA?
With great difficulty I hear you say.
Normally we struggle and curse, then forget it till the next one rears its ugly head or the scratches on your arms have healed.
Today I had three of these ####### to do and by the third my arms couldn’t take it anymore so came up with this idea.
Fortunately the drum pulley was spoked, some are solid I think.
Using a strong cable tie I fixed the belt to the top of the drum pulley by passing the tie through the spokes then put the belt on the motor pulley and turned the drum through the door.
Snap, on it went without a problem and it was easy to cut the tie afterwards.
I doubt this is new to some of you but it saved me a lot of grief.
I would be interested in your ways round this awkward little job.Tony
Doh!! just had a read of the manual, “To refit the belt, it may be necessary to fit it to the motor pulley first, tie-wrap the belt onto the drum pulley, and rotate the drum to walk the belt into position”
Oh well, forget what I said……….

Or you could have read every thread on the forum, if you had you may have stumbled across this, 4th post down. 😉 😀
WMA belt change takes less than three minutes from opening the toolbox to refitting the lid.

Don’t worry about it, it took me quite a while to find it again, and I posted it. 😆
I actually used to remove the top balance weight and the large razor sharp bracket that goes right across the back to avoid the inevitable blood loss until I saw the light. 💡 -
