    Been to see this machine today, tearing clothers only sometimes, but they tell me its getting worse, checked bearings ok..no gap between drum and gasket ,..has anyone any ideas please

    You mean you have never heard of Watchdog’s, “Hotpoint Washing Line of Shame” 🙂

    Although they did improve it towards the end, the Hotpoint Washer/Dryer has always had a tendancy to rip clothes. It used to feature on Watchdog every other week some years ago.

    Difficult to pin down, particularly as the customer says “it is getting worse”. Overloading is a common cause although they will insist that they don’t 😉 .
    I also try to give the machine a slight backward tilt if possible, a forward tilting machine can often cause this.

    Cheers Iadom, yes I am aware that a few years ago these machines did tear clothers, but I havent heard that these later model were doing the same..
