We are thinking about buying an induction hob. My question is this, do I need a special electrical supply similar to that for an electric ccoker, or can I just put a plug on it and plug it in to the mains? I have read the instruction manual online for DeDietrich, but that just quotes technical jargon such as CIE regulation such and such.
    Thanks

    Hi
Depends on how many rings it has. The key to a long life of an induction hob is ventilation, this is paramount. Most installers cut the hole in worktop and install as normal hob….WRONG. Adhere to manufacturers installation guide and you won’t go far wrong.

It will have 4 rings. I have since found another manufacturer who talks in laymans terms (CDA) and they say it will need a 30amp supply. So, it looks like I’ll be teeing off the cooker supply tomorrow!

    Hi

Make sure to check up on correct pans for use on an induction hob.
    Ordinary pans will not work.
