ParticipantHi, Need help as hotpoint can’t!!
My Hotpoint BFI62 decided to stop working – when the program is selected and the door closed it sounds as though it is a bout to start up but does not appear to kick in (no water sounds) there is a short beep then when the door is opened the first light is flashing constantly. There is no water inside the machine or the sump – i placed a couple of cups of water in the sump – ran the program again and the water was gone – this would appear to prove the drainage is ok. I have checked all the water supply’s etc they appear to be OK. Any ideas what the flashing light means – i called hotpoint for the code meaning as it says in the book but they said they couldn’t tell me!!! 😡 just a tad frustrating – any help would be greatly appreciated as this machine stopped domestics with my mrs!! 😉

Hi, sorry for not spotting this before, 😳 problems with an elderly relative.
First led flashing means you have a flooded base. Depending on how well or otherwise 😥 your dishwasher was installed, pull the machine out and after removing the mains plug, place a couple of towels around the base and tilt the machine, either backwards or to one side. If water runs out from underneath then that is the reason for the fault code.
You can try the machine again, but if the fault returns then it would suggest that you have an internal leak that needs investigation. Overflow into the base can also be caused by using 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 tablets together with rinse aid. Separate detergent, rinse aid & salt in all but very soft water areas or something like Fairy Active Bursts are a better.June 6, 2006 at 11:45 am #178411simonplummer

Very kind of you to let us know the outcome. Remember to have the machine looked at if the fault returns and avoid 3 in 1 or 4 in 1 tablets.
