We have a 2year old Cannon Henley cooker which produces
acrid smoke when it is used. We have run it on max for 2 hours but the
layer of grease on the catalytic liners is not burning off. The liners have not been treated with any cleaning agents. Is the layer
too thick for the catalyst to work? Can you suggest a safe cleaner for
the liners or any other solution?

Re: Catalytic Liners Not Self Cleaning

There is nothing that I am aware of that will clean those liners other than a spell of heat to burn off the fat. I suspect the panels are so saturated now that any attempt to clean is futile and only a new set of panels will suffice. 2 years is a very short life for them I must admit, but I think you will have to invest in new ones to get over this problem 😉

(If you have at any stage tried to use an oven cleaning spray on them, then that has surely done them in totally as no cleaning chemical must be used on them at any time!!!)

Email the exact model number of the appliance to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for a new set. 🙂

Martin is totally correct Nick and if any cleaning products have been used at all then the liners are goosed.

However what he forgot to mention was that they ain’t cheap either usually. It’s not unusual to be about £100 or so for a set. 🙁

To get the correct part numbers and prices I’ll need the model number off the rating plate.

2 weeks back in desperation I put the top panel on the barbeque as it did not work anyway. Most of the grease burnt off. It now seems to be staying clean, you can even see the white spots on the catalytic surface!
    Thanks for the help.
