    Dear all,

I have a Hoover Quattro Express 1300 AA 230 which is not emptying. I have checked all the pipework for blockages and removed a couple of coins. However it is still not emptying. The impeller ( behind the drain cap) is not spinning round when the machine is on spin, which I thought it was supposed to do. It is stiff to turn but does move. Any suggestions kindly received.

    Much obliged

Sounds like you need a new pump to be honest, as it should have a slight resistence to turn then twang a quarter turn itself.
Part available from link below but you will need full model number, usually around door area.

    Hi Greg,

Thanks very much for your response.

The way you describe the impeller moving is just about right. Am I right in thinking that it should be turning when the machine is on spin?

I am just a bit worried that I replace the part, but find that the problem is in the mother board. I don’t suppose there is any easy way of telling if the motor is working or not.

    I much appreciate your assistance.
    Best wishes

It should be turning when spinning.
You could try seeing if the pump has any electrtical resistence, ie windings intact. This is done with the power off.
