My Homark SE4400 has a puzzling problem and I’d appreciate any help from the dishwasher maestros – Here’s the story: It stopped circulating water. I managed to get hold of a secondhand same dishwasher to use for spares, & swapped out the circulating pump. I tried the light wash first to see the effect, and it worked a treat. I then put it on superwash and the fuse in the plug blew! I replaced the fuse and tried again – it blew again. I rechecked all my connections, and discovered I’d put the earth connection on the small device next to the circulating pump on the wrong connection – the device had 3 electrical connections, blue, black and earth and an unused connection – I had put the earth on the unused connection – dumb or what.
The device has a small rubber tube going to it. I remade the connections as they should have been, but the fuse still blew. With a meter I discovered the lid interlock and power on/off had failed, so replaced them.
When I tried again, the fuse didn’t blow, the dishwasher started, filled with water, circulated and heated the water – it appeared OK BUT didn’t stop to pump out or rinse, just kept on pumping/circulating to the end of the cycle when it stopped, leaving the hot water in. I changed the wash selector switch thinking that might be damaged – with no change….
Short of swapping everything out, bit by bit has anyone any ideas what might be causing the problem? Thanks, Howard

Ah, a bucket on rollers……. Unfortunate, a good example of why a diagram should be made before removing any wire or component from any appliance. From what you have described, I suspect that the timer has a fused contact – the contacts have welded into a closed position, so the drain pump cannot be operated. No easy solution and substitution is probably the only way to find out. You have a “donor” machine, so swap the timer out and see how you go – get it right though 😀 .

    Power off, please.

Thanks Penguin45, I think the timer is also the wash selector on the bucket, and so will start replacing the other stuff one at a time (carefully!). I guess I’ll have to work out what each one does if needed as I go along.

Make yourself a diagram, before pulling any wire. The chances of tech support on this one are between none and zero

    Good luck,
