ParticipantHi, Have a problem with F&P GW500B-U, error code 00101000 (read right to left) with the hold & slow lights lit. Can anyone shed some light on this code and what is required to repair it. Thanks…
Machine was working ok till final spin then didn’t remove all the water, next day won’t enter a washing cycle at all just makes some sort of humming sound when started, no filling no spin nothing.
Did replace motor controller years ago due to a dead short in it, but been working fine till now..June 7, 2006 at 5:27 pm #178596Penguin45

Interesting one. The water level switch thinks that the machine is empty, but has found that the wash bowl is still floating.
Drain machine fully (drain hose into bucket). Check the air hose is not trapped, kinked, holed or contains water.
A particularly soapy wash can generate this fault as well – foam has different characteristics to water.
If none of the above apply, the level switch is probably faulty. As it is an integral part of the display board, the whole thing will have to replaced.
Power off when poking about inside :zap: .

Drained remaining water, blow air hose through etc. Machine fills with water and does wash. Appears to work but won’t enter the rinse cycle or spin cycle or empty the water. The humming noise I heard appears to be coming from the drain pump, as I look at it, it appeared to slightly move occasionally then stop as if it was locking up? When trying to spin by hand it does seem or feel like it is locking up in spots. Is it possible for something to be trapped inside on the impeller locking the drain pump?

Entirely possible that pump is playing up – the error code system is not infallible. Pump is a twist fit into bottom of tub, pull the plug, drain the water, see what you find.
If there is a blockage, you might wish to consider fitting a “hood kit”, which makes it far more difficult for foreign bodies to foul the pump impellor. Your local spares supplier will be aware of this modification.
Pump has a live feed at all times, so please ensure that the plug is pulled.
