ParticipantBeen to look at a Service washing Machine only a few years old, theres a small selector switch PCB device for temperature selection, the problem is that the machinne goes through program too quickly & doesnt heat at all. I suspected economy sw’ befrore i went to look at it! Found it to have some kinda electronic device for heating timing. Trouble is i took the model num down as M3118 & supplier says thats not a model num?? Anyone know of the part i describe?

He’s right and as with all Servis the serial no. is all important as they change parts at will. I think I know the part you want but there are two versions so can’t advise without serial.

Model num is M3114, is the part called a potentiometer? Would a faulty one cause the machine to progress quickly through wash programme or am i looking at a dodgy timer?

Has this machine got a mechanical timer and a pcb at bottom corner or just a pcb at top of machine. If it is a mechanical timer make sure customer is selecting the programme exactly right. For example make sure on a number 4 cycle the timer is turned to the notch just before the number 4. The customer may complain that sometimes the cycle takes 40 minutes and other times 1hour 15minutes. This is when the timer is set on 4 not the notch before. All you have to do is convince the customer they COULD be using it wrong. Good Luck.

Tim, thanks for the reply but the fault is that its always skipping the heating cycle, going on through the programme without heating, i have commected machine onto an ammeter & i see heater switch on & off immediately, does a faulty potentiometer cause this?

I have never changed a potentiometer something worth looking at is some servis machines had a dual NTC /Thermostat the way to identify it is
it is a round stat with all the terminals around the outer edge if you are lucky then it will have the part no on it if not you must get the serial no not just the model no

Ta Lawrence, the machine is a M3114, ser’ num:- 20014922320 010077167 01 01.
Sorry but i don’t know the description of this part, it has a small edge connector, it hasn’t a phial as in normal variable thermostats, so reckon it times the heating cycle??
Anyhow on the front of the appliance theres a selector switch for temperature selection, if the component behind (part in question) is faulty will it cause machine to go through programme without heating?
Anyone know part number,, pleeease..June 13, 2006 at 4:26 pm #178772Dave_Conway
