I’ve got a problem with my dishwasher that I hope someone can help with. After swithing on and starting, any water inside is pumped away – so I assume the drain system is ok. It then fills with water and stops – nothing happens after that. Ive had the bottom plinth off and can see that when the machine is full of water there is a drip from the hose going to the pump. If left like this the bottom tray eventually fills with water. I’ve had a local repair man in and he checked the pump from a seperate power source and found it worked ok (as I already knew). He reckons its a faulty control board and not cost effective to repair. Do you think his diagnosis is right or could it be something else? I’m not too concerned about the drip – i think I could probably sort that out. ( for information I’ve looked at the control board and its a Flextronics UCB-CFD-P5-A2-DELAY)

The two hoses on the pump are moulded onto the motor and cannot be replaced. As the motor doesn’t run anyway, a replacement is in order. Part number is 4812 361 58334, and email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering if you wish to proceed yourself.
This machine was originally fitted with the “Big Askoll” motor, which has a shocking reliability record – the new motor is of a “conventional” design and is far more reliable.

I’m a little confused now though – what makes you think its a motor problem. As I said, on start up, the pump does empty any water from the machine, so the motor must be working to drive the pump?? Or are you talking about a different motor?

Drain pump and circulation pumps are two different beasties – drain pump is the small one at the front withe grey drain hoes coming from it. The circulation pump is the big one located at the rear right. The circulation pump is known for leaks from the moulded hoses, and the original equipment version is famously unreliable.
It is possible that the electronic board is not supplying 240v to the circulation pump, but personally I’d bet on the pump. If both are faulty, the parts bill may render this not a cost effective repair.

The part number you gave me – is that just the motor or the pump/motor combined. Seeing as I’ve got a leak from the hoses I’ll need the pump as well won’t I.
