ParticipantHi – have owned this Whirlpool American fridge freezer approx. 2 years and recently had the notorious problem of the ‘beeping/flashing display’. Had the board replaced and that hasn’t been a problem since, but now the thing has a constant puddle of water appearing by the front left (freezer compartment) corner. I opened the front bottom fins and found the (defrost?) tray full of water and cleared as much as possible (not easy as it doesn’t come out), but the puddle seems to keep appearing. Is it anything to do with the hot weather we are experiencing….. or a more deep seated issue? Please help. Thanks

Sounds like a blocked drain hole.

model no- 858616615012 (SS31BR25S trying to remember from memory!). I should clarify the puddle appears outside the freezer on the floor.
A blocked drain hole? where would I find the drain hole, and any suggestions on how to clear it?

85 no. seems to be correct. Freezer section is unlikely to have a drain tube as it doesn’t have a frost free function – this is usually found on the fridge side.
Bear with us, one of the fridge chaps will pick up on this and advise.

Sorry I might of misunderstood what you were saying… if the defrost tray under the appliance is full of water, it won’t be a blocked drain hole… If the drain hole in the tray under the freezer Evaporator is blocked (inside the freezer,) water will seep out of the door seal (on defrosts) and puddle the floor.

Hi
Could be unrelated to the last fault you had.
If you remove the bottom plinth ( I think you may have done that), botton left, you will see the water pipe that goes through the door hinge?
Before it goes into the hinge, you will see that it has a coupling which is a push fit. These have a tendancy to weep. All you have to do is squeeze compression part to release pipe (door side) and then offer it back in firmly.
Pulse chilled water and see if you see a leak at that coupling.Greg
