    Hi there,
I have a IGNIS AFE 275 Built In Freezer that does not appear to be working properly.

I was working away so defrosted it and left it switched off.

Now when I power it up at the plug the green and red lights come on and the audible beeper continously beeps.

I beleive that I am then meant to flick the switch inside at the top of the freezer that then switches on the fast freeze (and switches off the audible beeper) until the correct temprature is reached.

However when I operate the switch and leave it on for a few minutes it seems to get very warm around the area of the freezer where the switch and lights are. So warm that I am not sure that I should leave it on like this.

It does appear that the freezer is getting colder but I think there may be a problem.

Anyone seen this before or can offer any advice ?

    Thanks a lot,
    Dave

I think it may be coincidental that the control area gets hot to be honest, all the fast freeze does it make the motor (compressor) run constantly which it would do anyway until it reached the correct temperature.

I would leave fast freeze off and let it run, keep the door closed and if the red light is still on in a few hours then there is a problem 🙂

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for your quick reply.
I did as you said and the freezer did behave as you suggested it would except that the panel still felt warm at the top. I was wondering if maybe I was just being paranoid but noticed that the compressor didnt seem to be switching off even after a 24 hours. I decided to switch the thermostat from 2 to 1 to see if that made a difference. I turned the thermostat to 0 first and the compressor went off but now whatever I set the thermostat to it doesnt come back on.
The temprature rose to the point where the red light and audible alarm sound but the compressor didnt start.
I tried unplugging the freezer but when I put it back on still no compressor and then I flicked the fast freeze switch and still no compressor. I have powered it off for now. Any suggestions ?
    Cheers,
    Dave P

Re: IGNIS AFE 275 Freezer Faulty

I fear the compressor has failed to be honest if it won’t come back on after the power has been off for a while, coupled with it running constantly.

A refrigeration engineer will be able to tell for sure, check the repairs@ link below 🙂

    Dave.
