Ok here goes, i purchased a new grill element for my oven the other day and after fitting it found it still not working, so after a bit of head scratching decided to remove the oven and open up the top of the oven casing to have a look at the switches etc.
After testing for current etc came across what looks like some sought of thermostat that sit flush on top of the oven with 50c written on it.It is about as big as a rolo with two screws holding it down on to the casing, which i presume is some sought of cut out when the oven top/grill part gets to warm.
After testing it, it has juice going in but none coming out which i presume is to the grill elemnt.
Or am i looking in the wrong direction and need someone to look at it that know’s what he is doing.
Checked the new element and thats ok.

Can get pics of so called peice and model number if required.

    Thanks Webby

Please don’t do live testing – there is rarely a need. You should be able to solve this by continuity testing. The “rolo” will be a safety thermostat – again, continuity test with your meter should prove whether it’s inline with the grill element or not.

Assuming that it is open circuit, the model number will be crucial to identify the correct replacement.

There are two fixed temperature thermostats, one turns the cooling fan on and the other is the safety thermostat, if the latter had failed the whole oven would be dead not just the grill.

You need to look elsewhere, or better still chek the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂
