We have a diplomat ADP 8242 that has just started running forever on one of the wash/rinse steps and we have to open the door and manually cancel it. I have also noticed that the water is cold. I’m guessing that this is an engineer callout but thought it was worth a shot asking here.

Either the heater, thermostat(s) or the PCB will be at fault by the sound of it.
If you aren’t able to test those yourself then yes, I would recommend an engineer, the repairs@ link below should provide one.
If you decide to look yourself, please ensure the power is off :zap:

i have exactly the same problem with my ADP8242 but reading these forums all i’ve seen is people suggesting doing a reset with the program buttons and failing that its either a PCB, heater element or a thermistor!!!!……. well that covers more or less “all” the major components in the machine!……. and failing that call an engineer out!!… the whole idea of forums is so that u can gain suitable knowledge and understanding by reading and acting on precedence from other peoples experiences enabling “you” to fix the problem “yourself”; not to ask some hairy ass fitter to come round and roll around on your kitchen floor (most probably poking around hoping to hit the right note!!) and pay him Labour and parts. i’m sure its not rocket science!…….. so give us some proper advice to enable us to do the job ourselves and not just give us links to call an engineer out!!!!!!
