Hello I need some advice.
The British Gas repairman called today to fix the freezer.
The symptom is that the freezer is silent – it is independent of thr fridge which is working fine. The mechanic thought the thermostat was faulty and temporarily substituted a new one (generic) but no change.
He told me that the compressor was faulty. Due to the age, old style refrigerant, he said it is no longer possible to repair the compressor unit.
🙄
SO my question is two fold:
Is there any procedure that I could try to revive this unit – as it is in prinstine condition physically and has served for x years faithfully. (Also the fridge works fine and oh well we are treying to ssave the planet!
Two: If I need to replace it, can the panel recommend a good brand: simple high quality; not worried about brand; 600mm wide, any height; single or twin door; location South kensington SW7.
Many thanks
Sam
