    Hi,
Our Slimline Diplomat ADP8342 just keeps running on the wash programmes and we have to open the door to stop it. It works ok on the rinse, and we’re not getting any warning lights (apart from when we open door to stop it which I presume is normal).

    Really grateful for any help,

    Darren.

I guess the water is cold when you open the door ?

If that’s the case, the heater cut-out will have activated normally caused by 3/4 in one tablets. A common fault on these.

Use the forum search for just the numeric part 8342 and you’ll find plenty of info on this one 🙂

    Many thanks Dave,

Your right the water is cold, and we have been using 3 in 1 tablets.

When you say heater cut-out does that mean it can normally be re-set and if so how easy it!?

If it needs a new thermostat are they easy to obtain and is it worth it?

    Thanks again,

    Darren.

I posted about the exact same problem yesterday on our ADP 8242. We had the engineer out today and think he has fixed the problem so it might help you. He was looking under the machine and the element was fine so he started it running and after about 5 minutes water started pouring out the bottom. He then opened the machine and tooke the filter and grate off and tightened the four screws that were there and started it running again. This time no water out the bottom and after about 10 minutes he opened the door and steam came out where the water had been heated as it should. So it appears fixed.

I don’t know how the ADP 8242 compares to the 8342 but you may want to check if there is any dampness under the machine and also try tightening the screws under the filter (if its the same as the 8242).

It was explained to me that over time these screws can work themselves loose, this creates a gap that when the water rises above the filter causes it to leak out the bottom. This then (for some reason that I can’t remember) stops the water being heated and so never moves on to the next step.

It may not be your problem but hopefully it may save someone a callout in the future.

Sadly it won’t help Darren as they are completely different dishwashers but thanks for the input 😀

ADP8242 is made by Smeg and the ADP8342 is a Haier (Chinese).

Darren, check out the other posts regarding your model 😉

It’s not an easy job I’m afraid, power off if you do decide to look further :zap: or check the repairs@ link below for an engineer 🙂

The thermostat is quite reasonable if required at around £10 inc.

    Dave.
