Has anyone had a problem with Qualtex non genuine wm drum spiders. On fitting there is slight play.Fitting a genuine spider solves the problem.Qualtex spider pushes easy ,in and out of bearings.Problem is i have bought a few of these and they are all the same

Used to use these years ago, was never happy with them. You can order a box of two pattern with bearings from Electrue and the spiders are supplied genuine

Do you have a particular ‘spider’ in mind ?

Quite apart from being a poor fit I have seen one or two Hotpoint WM non gen spiders that have come adrift from the shaft, spinning loose and making a subsequent repair impossible on one of them. The pulley was jammed tight on the threaded shaft but you could not hold the drum to prevent the shaft from turning.

Never use non gen spiders, or bearings for that matter.

In reply to Iadom. “Big Henry” and chisel splits the pulley and then fit a new one.Done one this week.

I would think Qualtex would exchange them for genuine if you asked them 😉
