I have a Creda Reversair Sensadry tumble dryer, model no. 37650.
After being on for about 5 minutes it trips out the RCD in the consumer unit. I think this means an earth fault, but why should it take 5 minutes to happen? If I open up the dryer, what should I be looking for?
    Thanks.

It most likely will be a Heating Element or thermostat failure. Needs a bit of expert inspection with a test meter to establish the source of the earth leak.

Not costly for a local expert to fix for you though, please click link below for one 😉

Thanks Martin. It was the thermostat, but it didn’t need testing. I ran it with the back off and after a couple of minutes flames came out of one of the stats! I’ve replaced both of them and everything is ok.
    Thanks again.

I’m thrilled that you solved the problem and thanks for your thanks 🙂

…..But you know, I feel guilty for having given my expert opinion as to where I though the fault lay and then you endangered yourself by inspecting it in such a dangerous/reckless/amateurish manner 👿

I cannot condone what you did to rectify this fault and I truly hope others that read this would not follow your example? LIVE TESTING is not advised in any way, shape or form. It is extremely dangerous and life threatening at the very least. 🙄

We on this website learned only yesterday of someone that was electrocuted doing a similar thing. Electricity is THE MOST DEADLY SILENT KILLER known to man……….never EVER do live testing on any appliance!!
