I have a Fisher & Paykel Intuitive Eco IW812. For many years it has worked fine, but just recently, during the wash, it stopped and said: “I need service code 66”. After resetting power, worked fine for a few weeks. Then got the code again. Now I am getting code several times during a wash, with a code 38 occasionally thrown in to break the monotony. The code 66 seems to appear randomly throughout the program. On occasion it can even appear when the power is turned on, but the machine has not started yet. Any suggestion appreciated.

Machine is probably syphoning – check end of drain hose is higher than maximum possible water level in tub.

Thank you for your reply Penguin45.
Code 66 seems to be related to a water level sensing device located on the right-hand side of the PCB. This is connected to a plastic tube. When the water rises in the tub then so does the water in the tube, thereby increasing the air pressure in the rest of the tube. This pushes down on a rubber membrane inside the water level sensing device, which in turn is attached to a little magnet. The magnet goes down a coil thereby changing the electromagnetic field. The magnet is counterbalanced by a spring. I think the magnet was stuck in the down position. I have rectified this. Code 66 seems to have disappeared, however I am now stuck on a code 37. The machine keeps draining water where there is none. It may well be related. I might have “over rectified” the magnet. Any thoughts?

66 is transducer level switch outside operating range – it can be caused by problems with the air hose containing water when reconnected. This can lead to negative signals from the level switch.

37 is no drop in water level detected within 3 minutes – again measeured by level switch, so it’s all pointing to that as the culprit.

F+P only supply it as part of the circuitboard, so likely to be expensive.

Thanks for the reply. I was starting to get many more error codes which I wrote down as they came up. Contacted F&P and spoke to a helpful gentleman. Some of the codes were apparently non-existent. His conclusion; most likely a sick processor. Bit the bullet and replaced the motor controller. Machine is working fine now.
