ParticipantHi
Can anyone help me?
Our fridge is freezing up. We know it could be a thermostat. Are we right? If so, we’ve been told its quite an easy task to replace (we are technically competent). Are there any guides available online that you know of?
Many thanks

When you say overfreezing, do you mean food stuff freezing or are you getting a block of ice on the back wall?

Both: ice is forming on the back wall, and food freezes

Ok, the ice on the back wall, is it even from top to three quarters down or just a block at the top ?

It seems to be even from top to most of the way down.

Then that is ok. That is the way the fridge works.
Make sure nothing is touching the back wall. What temp setting is the fridge set to?.

At the moment its on 2 out of 5
You say that the freezing up is normal, but it never used to freeze up (or if it did it was so slight as to be unnoticeable). The freezing up is now VERY noticeable. We have tried different temp settings but it seems to make no difference.

The frost pattern, should basically be frozen droplets of water. If it is really thick ice then yup you’ve got problem.
Does the light go out when the door is closed?, and is the door seal made all the way round.
If these are OK then I would consider calling an engineer as it may be a system fault, as opposed to stat fault.

OK, door seal seems fine. Light hasn’t worked for a couple of years. So not a thermostat problem you think?
Maybe we should find an engineer…
Thanks for help
