I have a smeg DWF 64 SS and the thing will not run/empty – I had a look around and the suppressor has blown – is this the likely cause of the problem or just a herring of the red variety ? Cheers !

    Re: Dishwasher suppressor!!

A red herring more than likely, the dishwasher should still work with a blown suppressor just leave nice lines all over your TV screen etc 😉

It may have damaged something else of course when it popped. When you say it won’t run/empty, what does it do exactly ?

    Hi dave,
thought that might be the case – a suppressor doesn’t actually “do” anything does it ? Well the thing runs and when it has finished, it is still full of dirty water.
It happened once before and it was something (glass) stuck in the pump – is there an easy way to check the pump ?

    Re: Dishwasher suppressor!!

The suppressor has no real bearing on the main functions no 🙂

It sounds like your pump is blocked again or failed. If you found the suppressor you’re you should find checking the pump easy enough 😉

    Power off please :zap:

    Re: Dishwasher suppressor!!

    Hi Dave,

Thanks alot – the thing is in bits anyway so i will strip it down a touch further and get to the bottom of it. I always end up with a handful of screws spare on reassembly but that is par for the course i guess.
    Cheers

    Simon
