Hi
looks like he as wired it incorrectly, neutral should come from the compressor live so the heater would have 2 live supplies until the compressor switched off and then the neutral would feed from the compressor windings to the heater.
and thats the basis of a defrost heaters power supply

weird thing is stats were swopped wire for wire no changes were made to wiring but heater seems to run if compressor is on or not even when we disconnected a wire off stat we thought ran the heater when compressor shuts down. can definatley feal the heater working. got a chap comming tommorow to check gas levels and compressor but im unsure on what stat this fridge should have as we just used what we could find in the shop to get it running again 😉

and can a r134a compressor work ok on a r12 system?July 7, 2006 at 6:23 pm #181080admin
KeymasterRe: fridge wiring diagrams
Hi
Yes a R134a will run on a R12 system but to be honest you would be better off fitting a R600A compressor far easier, more efficient and quieter.
dependant on the size of the unit depends on which compressor size you will need,as a guide a 5′ 50/50 will be a 1/5 compressor r600a wereas a R134a may need a 1/4 compressor on the same unit.
