ParticipantHELP!!!! – Our Electrolux EOB 976 (X1 – 3.2kW) integral electric oven recently broke down (product no. 944250235 ?). The oven doesn’t heat up (lights & fan still work). Could this be the element and if so, how easy are these to replace?
The unit is approx. 5 years old and has had only light use. The integral grill has never worked (unfortunately it was past its warranty when we first tried to use it!) – can the grill element also be replaced and how is this done? Many thanks

Almost certainly, screwdriver job basically but we can’t go in to specifics for legal and safety reasons. You can get the element HERE 😀
If you’re unsure, check the repairs@ link below and please power off if you attempt yourself :zap:

Odd, are you sure you’ve read the manual correctly as it is very unusual for elements not to work from new, you may have to set the oven thermostat as well as the grill control for it to work 😉

ParticipantThanks – I will purchase an oven element and see if that works.
As for the grill – followed the instructions before and tried other ways in case the instructions had missed something but no joy!July 23, 2006 at 5:05 pm #181123silverheart

Hi again,
Purchased the replacement element from this site and fitted it but the design is slightly different from the original and the element/fan cover will not fit it over it!
The old element only had two spacers but the new one has a third (located at the 6 o’clock position) and this prevents the cover from being fitted back properly. The actual element position is identical to the old – both sit slightly lower than central in relation to the fan position. I don’t think I will be able to reposition the spacers without risking damaging the element.
Is there an alternative version avaible for this cooker with different spacers and how do I go about returning the new element?
Many thanks

Dave,
Received the new element and it fitted and worked perfectly. The second element is a perfect fit. Many thanks for all your help, care and attention.
Also played around with the control settings for the grill and managed to get it to work! The instructions didn’t mention that you had to put the timer control to a particular position (the symbol that looks a bit like a hand!)
Thanks again……. 😀

Thanks for letting me know, it’s appreciated
The “other” elements have been returned due to pony and trap manufacture 😉
