Ariston Margherita 2000 – Will not open

I hope someone can help. My washer is about 4 years old and the spring on the handle to open the door has stopped working. My washing is stuck in there and beginning to smell a little funky. I do not want to rip the door off with brut force but wondered whether there is another way of doing it as the latch is still on???

Your advice is appreciated.

We’ll need the model number please, Margherita 2000 is a generic name and covers quite a few models 🙂

The handle will have broken, so use brute force and pull it off completely. A narrow screwdriver can then be used to lever the hook back.

Model number wil be required to identify which catch is required – they are all Margherita 2000s!

Thanks for the prompt reply and advice.

This little number is a AWD12s. Do you mean use brut force to get the handle off or the door open? I do not want to break/bend things that shouldn’t.

Ok, the other way to do it is to get a slender (but sturdy) tool – screwdiver, cutlery knife and try to feel across between the door and the casing for the hook and push it across. Mind the paint though.
