I don’t know about the rest of you but we seem to have a noticable downturn in service work over the last three weeks. Being in a densly populated area and having adverstising in the right places along with providing reasonably priced labour rates and having been established some forty years you have to wonder where the work has gone. Yep Summer time can be spasmodic but its very quiet and other businesses are saying ther same thing.

What are the rest of finding at this time? and as a short poll how many call are you doing per day to see if there is some kind of pattern to this.

    Re: Workloads

It’s dead at this time of year squadman, work very thin on the ground. Summer heatwave, summer hols and all that stuff…..my work has fallen by 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} since May. I don’t expect it will pick up until the end of August?

Problem is that work is so bad I’m doing calls I would easily have turned away a month or two back. I even went and fixed a bl**dy twin tub last week…. 😯

How can a man stoop so low I hear you cry….. :rotl:

    Re: Workloads

We are the same, worringly dead.

Passing to engineers most as same day calls, provided we can get the customer to stay at home in this weather. When we have a chance of doing a job in a particular area, and the engineer is that way today or tomorrow, you can bet the customer won’t be available.

Today we started with an engineer with only 2 calls booked. We have gradually filled him as the day has progressed, but leaves him very little for tomorrow.

Next week, kids will be on holiday, and so will some engineers over the following 6 weeks. Then it will pick up, and customers will berate us for allowing fridge engineers to take holidays in the hot weather. Very inconsiderate of us to allow this I know.

Come November/December we shall be moaning as we will be too busy.

    Re: Workloads

No let up here, 35 jobs from a single contract today. We don’t do much chargeable stuff, it seems as though it’s business as usual for us, at the moment. 😆

We’re the same, been very quiet for the last 3 weeks or so. Had 4 calls booked for today, phones been very quiet even for a monday.
As long as we can ride the next few weeks things should be ok.
Still, like you say, come october/november we’ll be moaning!.

It’s been quiet… but it’s gone mad again! Today has been my busiest day on the phone for weeks.

Yeah, we’re selling absolutely loads of tumble dryers these days, surely, people shouldn’t waste energy and put their clothes on the line??

It’s gone very quiet for me.

Most engineers in this area seam to be the same.

It always went quiet over the school holidays but the last few years it didn’t seam to make any difference.

Never mind, I’ll finish the week on Thursday and take a long weekend in Salcombe, beats working 🙂

I think us Fridge engineers have noticed a big increase in work over the last couple of days 😀 Long may it last as things have been a bit grim for several months now.

Only six calls in today, however one is a Hotpoint WD51 complete outer drum change, one an IWMS system on a Zanussi D/W and a tub out job on a Bosch built, Hotpoint D/W to replace heater box seals. Should keep me busy. 🙂

Dead quiet since April but seems to be picking up a little recently. 8 calls a day last year at this time but down to about four on average at the mo.
Loads of peole wanting to buy stuff now, pity they didn’t ring while the shop was open 😕
