ParticipantWhile I was carrying out a repair on a dishwasher this week the customer started to tell me about the problem she was having with two digital clocks in her kitchen. The first was on a new Panasonic Microwave the second on a Siemens built in oven, both clocks GAIN the same time 15 minutes a week.
Having spoke to someone more up on electrics than myself he tells me that there may be a problem with their electricity supply as these clocks rely on a steady frequency for their accuracy.
Has anyone else come a across this one problem.July 22, 2006 at 7:56 pm #182737electrofix
ModeratorRe: Digital Clocks
most digital clocks these days do not rely on the mains frequency but a quartz crystal so it is not mains frequency that is at fault
but i can believe 1 faulty clock but not 2 there has got to be an electrical cause did you take a voltage reading while you where there ?
cannot think of a cause for this but if the panasonic is under warrenty throw the ball in their court and see what happens

No I just suggested they contact their electricity supplier I also suggested they had a word with the neighbours to see if they have similar problems.
I will give them a ring to suggest getting in contact with Panasonic.Turbo

Had a word with the customer and her neighbours have been having similar problems. It turned out that a substation went pop while they were on holiday a couple of weeks ago so they came home not knowing that their supply was now coming from an EMERGENCY GENERATOR 😈
Pretty bad of the supplier not to notify them of this situation.
Mind you the poor blighters living next to generator did not need telling its been driving them nuts apparently. 😈
So yes they have all had Digital Clock problems but the Gas Boiler clocks seem to be unaffected which mystifies me 😕

The boiler may have a better clock and better mains filter 😕
