ParticipantWashing machine wont spin in 1200rpm mode
goes throu wash cycle fine with heavy load ,but no fast spin!
belt and motor seem good!July 24, 2006 at 4:51 pm #182913Penguin45

Strangely enough, it probably will be the drive belt, despite it being in place. It’s elasticated (ie self tensioning) and they do stretch over time, which seems to affect the way the computer analyses the load balance at the spin sequence.
It’s here:

fault was a dry joint on the motor control pcb
at the 6k ceramic resistors, due to heat
whizzing away like a good un now , save mesel £70 quid

🙁 well seems it was not that pcb control after all ,
after placing machine back in place the fault returned!
on observin the fast cycle i can see that its trying to balance it before going into full speed, but then slows down to balance again repeatedly.
So looks like it will be the belt and balance as penguin said!July 29, 2006 at 6:52 pm #182916wilsya

what actualy governs the drum balance on this machine?

To elaborate slightly…….
When the spin sequence starts, the drum speed increases slightly, enough to push the load out onto the drum, instead of tumbling. The machine is running the motor against a speed profile stored in the computer. Consider that an offset load requires more power to lift it than to drop it down the other side, therefore the computer board is constantly adjusting the motors speed to fit the profile. It will only do this within a certain band, before deciding that the load is unbalanced and refuses to spin. For reasons none of us are entirely sure of, a stretched belt seems to exacerbate the problem.
