I looked at a Bosch SGS59A22GB/17 that was tripping the main board.

This was straight forward to diagnose as a short circuit element.

Before I order the new element has anyone had this where its damaged the main control PCB?

    Thanks,

    Keith.

The only way to be sure it hasn’t is to disconnect the feed to the heater, run the machine and see if you get 240volts to the terminals? If yes, the chances are the module is fine 🙂 😉

    Thanks Martin,

I know I should have done this at the time, but it was 5pm, a long hot day with another 3 calls to do, I didn’t think of checking the PCB. It wasn’t until after I left realised I should have done the obvious and check the PCB.

Also the element wasn’t short circuit, it was a dead short to earth which is why it tripped the RCD.

I’m just trying to ascertain the likelihood of the board being damaged?

If its just earth leakage I would imagine PCB to be fine. Give it a quick viz over looking for the obvious blown track etc.
