ParticipantHi, I found this site by default, searching for a service manual for (my wifes) washing machine. We’ve had this machine for about 3 years now, second hand, don’t know just how old it is ? but it’s been great up ’til now.
Over the past six weeks or so it’s developed a grinding noise, I assume it’s the bearings ? Can’t get hold of my regular engineer, so decided to check out the net, what I’ve found so far indicates (to me) that the job is not all that difficult. BUT, I believe every man to his own trade !!!
I’ve been a locksmith in the industry for 40 years, do not rip people off and don’t like to be ripped off. So the thought of replacing the guy who’s been looking after our WG’s for years with an unknown quantity ? Well, enough said ! ( Sorry, rant over)
If anyone can suggest a) where I can get hold of a manual. b) Could it be something other than bearings ? c) On the assumption it is the bearings , should I replace or service anything else while the patient “is under”.
Make & Model :- AEG ‘OKO’_Lavamat 610 electronic.

Not possible sorry 🙁

Maybe the motor bearing? Drum bearings are a more common problem. It starts with a small rumbling, and gradually gets louder, until it sounds like an aeroplane taking off!

Almost anything else is electrical, so no servicing is required. But I wouldn’t say that the bearing job is easy! Not at all! :hmm:
Click here for an engineer, or unplug the machine before you start any work.

Hiya Goatboy,
Thanks for the input re Lavamat 610. She who must be obeyed, decided she was having a new machine ! So I took the back off old one & with help from another site, found that it was indeed the drum bearings.
Got replacement bearings locally (£13.80) and rebuilt the washer ! Now working like a dream. Masses of brownie points for Moi !!!
And wouldn’t you know it ? my usual engineer called about four hours after I’d finished asking what the problem was ? I got him to check out what I’d done (just in case !)Next project ??? (SHE says) extend the kitchen ? “and what about that conservatory your always going on about”. I think I’ll stick to what I know best “Locks”. If you ever need advice about them, I’m your man.
Cheers, chasa.

Usualy need to change the collar on the drum shaft of that model as well as the bearings/seals.
