Going spare
ParticipantHello everyone
Wondered if anyone could help with this. The glass from the oven inner door has come away from the seal on this model AKL436.
Whirlpool advise that it cannot be re-sealed and a new inner door is required (a complete new door is not available).I have read here about removing the 2 bottom screws and sliding off the outer door from behind the handle on another AKL model.
But. This outer door looks pretty much sealed/bonded to the inner door along the whole length of the sides with a dark grey sealant. It’s not moving.
So what ever happens something looks like it will need re-bonding/sealing.I’m not getting far with this… Can anyone let me in on what needs to happen for the fix here.
Thanks in advance

You will need a new door inner Im afraid.

Thanks gegsy.
Getting a new inner door seems easy enough. I’m just concerned that I will have to cut the sealant at the sides to separate the inner and outer doors which still leaves the issue of re-bonding here which I’m not too sure about.

Door outer and door inner should seperate with a slight persuasion, they arent bonded. Only the inner glass is bonded to the inner door hence the need for exchange. If you can give me the 12 digit number I can get you the correct part number. 😉

You were right gegsy 😉 .
The new inner door arrived.
The way I separated the inner and outer door was to remove the 2 screws underneath then put the whole door back onto the oven – with both hands free and some gentle persuasion the outer door came away.Cheers
