ParticipantHi : I was hoping that some one might be able to help me with this fault, the machine won’t start anymore. Its 5th led is flashing ( the large pot one) when the power is on and it makes 2 bleeps when you push the program button, but dosen’t do anything when you close the door. I have tested the following items, water inlet valve/solanoid : door switch : capacitator on the main power in. Is there anything else I can do? Don’t really want to spend too much on this machine as not very pleased with it anyway. ( our plates don’t fit in the btm, the spray arm hits them, they are not special just plain white ones from John Lewis?????????)

I have mangaged to reset the useless thing but it’s still not well, it seems to start it’s programe then seems to “crash” but I have noticed that the soap tray dispenser is not opening. Do you think this could be the problem???
Why is it that this machine hasn’t even lasted 18months and we have got one that has been in the shed for 4 years and is 27 years old still works perfectly and gets the stuff cleaner that this smeg thing, worlds gone mad.August 2, 2006 at 8:52 pm #183896gegsy

checked soap solenoid thing, works beautifully , the only thing that i have found wrong, and it was a burning smell that led me to it was the micro switch on the door close thingy, which was all black and burnt, i wonder what could be causing this???????????????????????????????? could this be upsetting the poor old thing.
That it, it’s just “crashed” again, it’s going in the skip.August 2, 2006 at 9:45 pm #183898gegsy

If its burnt it would suggest a replacement surely. I would not use appliance until that part has been replaced.
