Diplomat ADP8242 dishwasher….went to it with not heating fault. Found problem within a couple of minutes. a wire had snapped connected to the heating element. A nice fifty quid i thought. re connected but still no heat. checked heater and stat, both fine. Got to be the board then? but why would this happen when the known cause was a snapped wire?

possible arcing before wire snapped…
doesnt take much for pcbs to take a dive…
after all there foriegn…
not like our british pcbs eh ????You did press the reset button on the stat didn’t you? 😉
I’ve never heard of a PCB failure causing that Geoff, but nothing’s impossible. 😕

The stat isnt re settable and i did try running it with the stat by passed. If feed to element arced would it not trip consumer unit?

It should be a 3 terminal thermostat – 85C auto reset and 105C manual reset but I have seen some with just 2 terminals 😕
Check the thermistor inside the door, it should be ~10K at 20C 😉
