    Hi. I have a Hotpoint WMA32 washing machine that is approx 5 yrs old.
    On a couple of ocassions over the last month there has been a burning
    smell after a wash has finished. I’m not sure whether the problem occurs
    during the spin cycle. Clothes appear to be ok and the machine still appears to be washing ok (apart from rust spots which have been occuring over the last few months). Do you have any thoughts on what might be causing the burning smell ?

    Thanks in advance.

    Rust spots would indicate the bearings are failing.

    Has it got noisier on spin recently by any chance ?

    Please check the many other posts regarding Hotpoint WMA prefixed models and bearing failure 🙂

    Dave.

    If bearings are wearing, it could be the slight play in the drum on spin causing the rim of the drum to rub on the door seal.

    Could be from the Carbon brushes’ holders… my Hotpoint WM53 stopped working on the weekend, turned out to be the brushes had overheated and melted the plastic holders… have ordered more but would like to know why the got so hot in the first place.

    Overworking the machine through either overloading or more often than not people operate the machine non-stop. (i.e no sooner has one load finished then another load goes on) 😕

    Result = cooked motor 🙁
