    Hi there,

Have a Hotpoint Aquarius Washer/Dryer 9926 – probably about 10 year old 😳 and it had recently developed a leak from underneath.

Have checked the drawer, pipes, door seal, filter – and all seem perfectly ok.

The leak happens once the drum is full of water. Having switched the machine off and unplugged at this point – when I took the back off the leak appears to be coming from toward the front of the machine and mainly looks like the front of the tub.

Also noticed it’s looking quite rusty in that area – so probably been building up for some time.

Anyone know if this is possible to repair ? Or suggestions ? Looking on the forums, it seems that it may be time to get a new one….

    Many thanks.

Ths could just be a drum front seal leak. Drum seal is not the easiest thing to change being a washer dryer. cost of part is around £16 to £18. If the drum bearings are sound ( no excessive noise) then it should be well worth repairing. Click the link in my sig to see if we have someone who can help.

Part number of drum seal is 1600657, if you do decide to attempt this repair I would advise re using the old clips. The new seal is supplied with a full set of clips but in recent times the new ones are so badly formed that they are prone to coming adrift, thats if you can get them to stay on in the first place.

On balance due to the various pitfalls regarding the balance weights and the dryer inlet duct I would advise seeking expert help. Please remove the mains plug if you intend to proceed yourself.

    Jim.

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for the advice – much appreciated and sounds like the repair might be worth a try at least.

Definitely dont think it’s something I’d be up to – so gonna find the local guy from the link.

    Thanks again !!
